With the closure of The Prajnya Trust, the Education for Peace Initiative of the Trust has been transferred to the aegis of Chaitanya. This includes peace education and citizenship education programmes.
In partnership with Sansristi, Chaitanya will replace Prajnya as the co-convenor of the biannual lecture series. Five days of lunchtime talks are held in September and February and a certificate is sent to those who attend all five days.
The UN Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific will now be the primary organiser of The Disarmament Toolkit but Chaitanya will be a partner. DTK brings together technical experts from around the world to introduce new audiences to important ideas and norms with regard to disarmament and arms control. The course includes a gender and politics perspective as well. It is free and open to all and again, those who attend all sessions receive a certificate.
The 2025 edition of The Disarmament Toolkit will be held in the first half of June.
When invited, Dr. Swarna Rajagopalan will continue to deliver Prajnya’s Teachers for Peace Training module to school teachers. Key elements of this module, usually customised to the school’s context, include a discussion of the role of teachers in peace education, bias and classroom practice. Aligned to this, Chaitanya will also keep alive the Facebook community founded alongside the training programme.
Dr. Rajagopalan and Chaitanya team members will continue to keep The Peace Blog alive. The Facebook Prajnya Teachers for Peace group will also continue, with some changes, but you may still join.
